What makes an effective promotional message?
If your promo message is 15 seconds or 5 minutes, a few key factors are important when it comes to making an impact with the viewer.
First, the ad must look great. Visually, it needs to “pop”, meaning that the cinematography should be top notch. Take a look at the images just above and you’ll notice a few things right away, including bright, well lit and well composed shots. The shots show depth, details, unique angles, and show expressions from people. They show environments. The ads not only talk to people with spoken voice over, but through the images and the way the camera moves.
Second, the editing must flow in a way that doesn’t distract the viewer, but instead draws them in. Even if we don’t write your script, our job is to create and match content to that script, and take the viewer through a short story.
Third, music sets the tone. If the message is longer than a minute or two, changing the background music indicates how the story is progressing and acts as a chapter marker.
Finally, the key message must be clear, and the viewer must have a clear idea of what you’re trying to say.
Communication occurs on multiple levels at the same time. If you meet a client or go to a job interview, presentation is important, and the same goes for your video message. A promotional video or ad tells people about your organization just by the quality of it’s production. The quality of the message, is itself a message. Contact us today to talk about your project!
